Yeltsin: Clinton, I am not for war
Hegemony is the key to Kosovo
President Clinton held talks yesterday by phone with Russian President Boris Yeltsin. He said that the essence of the crisis lies in Kosovo, while the Serbs are acting like the Nazis after World War II. He added that Slobodan Milosević is a war criminal and that NATO must destroy Kosovo and Serbia together with Albania.
The Serbian president, Milan Milutinović, declared that in recent days a large number of Americans have been evacuated from all over the world through Kosovo by plane. According to him, there has been an unprecedented concentration of military equipment in the region.
Will there be a chance in the north? NATO may intervene with marines. Russian President Boris Yeltsin told Bill Clinton by phone that the situation in Kosovo must not get out of control. “This is the last year of peace,” Boris Yeltsin said.
More than 60,000 troops? With NATO attacks on the territory of the former Yugoslavia and the bombing of bridges, plants, and energy centers, the situation has worsened. The alliance is striking hard and conditions are becoming increasingly difficult for the civilian population.
NATO is keeping several strategic bridges blocked. The Russian president again emphasized that a political solution must be found. The situation is being driven by the harsh talks between Washington and Moscow.
Milo? The chief of staff declared that the strikes will continue. NATO said that its action will continue until Belgrade accepts the alliance’s conditions.
